2. Observe whether the sprocket and chain are in the same straight line
When adjusting the chain, in addition to adjusting it according to the frame chain adjustment scale, you should also visually observe whether the front and rear chainrings and the chain are in the same straight line, because if the frame or rear wheel fork has been damaged. After the frame or rear fork is damaged and deformed, adjusting the chain according to its scale will lead to a misunderstanding, mistakenly thinking that the chainring and chain are on the same straight line.
In fact, the linearity has been destroyed, so this inspection is very important. If a problem is found, it should be corrected immediately to avoid future troubles and ensure nothing goes wrong. Wear is not easily noticeable, so check the condition of your chain regularly. For a chain that exceeds its service limit, adjusting the length of the chain cannot improve the condition. In the most serious case, the chain may drop or be damaged, leading to a major accident, so be sure to pay attention.
Maintenance time point
a. If you are riding normally on urban roads for daily commuting and there is no sediment, it is usually cleaned and maintained every 3,000 kilometers or so.
b. If you go out to play in the mud and there is obvious sediment, it is recommended to rinse off the sediment immediately when you come back, wipe it dry and then apply lubricant.
c. If the chain oil is lost after driving at high speed or in rainy days, it is also recommended that maintenance be carried out at this time.
d. If the chain has accumulated a layer of oil, it should be cleaned and maintained immediately.
